One-off creation creates hidden work
Generating a short URL is easy. Remembering who created it, why it exists, where it was distributed, and whether it is still accurate is the hard part. Those questions multiply as soon as a team runs more than a few campaigns.
A workspace model turns link creation into an operational record. The link has an owner, a title, a destination, a public alias, a status, and a reliable update path.
Validate before distribution
The best time to catch a malformed destination, unsupported scheme, route conflict, or duplicate alias is before anyone copies the link. Server-side validation keeps the rule consistent across browsers, API clients, and future integrations.
Publishing should also be idempotent. If a browser retries after a slow network response, the platform should return the original result rather than creating a second public link.
Close the lifecycle intentionally
Campaign links need an explicit end state. Archiving preserves the record for audit and future analysis while removing it from the default active view. This is safer than deleting context or leaving expired destinations unmanaged.
A clean lifecycle lets teams distinguish active distribution from historical reference, reducing the chance that an old link is copied into a new campaign.
